CAi · California Insurance AI
Your insurance estimate.
Your next step, clear.
Start your California auto insurance request with your vehicle, driver and coverage details. Review a starting estimate, then discuss available options and final pricing on a follow-up call.
Follow-up may include an automated voice assistant. A starting estimate is not a carrier quote or proof of insurance. Confirm the policy and its effective date before relying on coverage.
FROM ESTIMATE TO A COVERAGE DECISION
Know what happens at each step.
Prepare your request
Enter the vehicle, driver and coverage details that describe your situation. Include a non-owner or SR-22 need if it applies.
Review the starting estimate
Check your entries before submitting. The on-screen estimate is a starting point for a conversation, not a live carrier offer.
Discuss available options
Request follow-up by phone. Automated assistance may be part of that conversation; confirm policy questions with a licensed agent.
Confirm before you drive
Review the final premium, policy terms and effective date with the agent or insurer. Obtain proof of insurance before relying on coverage.
Make the comparison about coverage, too.
Keep these questions beside you when reviewing written quotes with an agent.
| Check | Ask before choosing |
|---|---|
| Coverage and limits | Are the types of coverage and liability limits the same in each written quote? |
| Deductibles | What would I pay out of pocket for a covered collision or comprehensive claim? |
| Total payments | What is the total premium for the policy term, including any installment or broker fees? |
| Insurer and terms | Who issues the policy, are they licensed in California, and what exclusions apply? |
The California Department of Insurance recommends getting several quotes and asking for each in writing. Its auto insurance consumer guide explains coverage, fees and shopping questions.
California minimum liability is a starting requirement.
For standard private passenger auto liability policies, California requires at least $30,000 for injury or death to one person, $60,000 for injury or death to more than one person, and $15,000 for property damage. Liability covers losses to others; collision and comprehensive address damage to your own vehicle.
Ask about limits and protection that fit your situation, including any lender requirements. The state's Low Cost Automobile Insurance Program has separate eligibility and limits. See the California DMV insurance requirements and the CDI guide above. Requirements checked September 6, 2026.
